Humans in Control Action

Privacy Policy

Last updated November 6, 2026.

This policy explains how Humans in Control Action collects, uses, and shares information through humansincontrolaction.org, including how we share information within our affiliated organizations.

For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

Who we are

Humans in Control Action Incorporated is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. Humans in Control Incorporated, our affiliated 501(c)(3) public charity, is a separate legal entity. We collaborate under the Humans in Control name.

This policy covers information collected through this website and shared between these organizations as described below. The Humans in Control privacy policy describes practices on the sister site.

Information we collect

When you submit a signup or contact form, we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, interests, and message. We also record communication preferences and consent records, including the signup source, time, disclosure version, and the organizations you agreed could contact you by email or text.

Our hosting and security providers may process technical information, such as your IP address, browser information, and requested pages, to deliver the site and protect it against abuse.

Forms marked “Design preview only” do not save or send your entries. Contributions are processed securely by Stripe. We receive contribution and contact details to administer gifts and maintain records. Card details are entered on Stripe’s checkout page, not stored by this site.

How we use information

We use information to respond to you, manage supporter records and communication preferences, and keep you informed about campaigns, events, advocacy, fundraising, and opportunities to help. Humans in Control Action may also contact you about elections. If you provide a ZIP code, we may use it to send information relevant to your area. We also use information to operate and secure our website and communications.

Communications are subject to your signup choices. Providing a phone number alone does not authorize text messages; a separate opt-in is required.

Sharing within our affiliated organizations

Humans in Control Action Incorporated may share supporter information collected through this site with our affiliated organization, Humans in Control Incorporated. This may include contact information, interests, form responses, and communication preferences, where consistent with the notice and choices provided when you signed up. We share this information to coordinate our work, maintain supporter records, and support the charity’s education, organizing, and other permissible nonpartisan activities.

When a signup form names both organizations, you agree to receive email updates from both. Each organization is responsible for its own communications and for honoring unsubscribe requests. Sharing information does not by itself enroll you in either organization’s email or text updates. We use the communication permissions you actually provided, including any later changes or opt-outs. The Mobile Terms explain text-message choices.

Other sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with service providers that help with hosting, security, contact management, form processing, and communications, for the purpose of providing those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, our organizations, or our systems.

Cookies and other websites

This site currently does not use advertising pixels or third-party analytics scripts. Our hosting and security services may process technical information as described above. We will update this policy if we introduce additional tracking tools.

Links to other websites, including The AI Primary and Humans in Control, take you to services with their own privacy notices. Review those notices when using their forms or services.

Your choices and privacy requests

Use the unsubscribe link in an email to stop those email updates. To stop texts, reply STOP or contact us. You may also ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of information you submitted, or ask us to stop communications from either or both organizations. Email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Request” and tell us what you would like changed. We may need to verify your identity to protect your information.

How long we keep information

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here and for legal, security, and recordkeeping obligations. We may retain a limited record of an unsubscribe or opt-out request so we can continue to honor it.

Security and children’s privacy

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.

This website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can take steps to delete it.

Mobile Terms

We record your text-message preferences when you sign up. This website does not send texts automatically when you submit the form.

How you join

By providing a valid US mobile number and checking a “Text me” box naming Humans in Control and Humans in Control Action, you agree to receive recurring texts from Humans in Control Incorporated and Humans in Control Action Incorporated about campaigns, events, action alerts, and ways to help. If the checkbox names only one organization, your consent applies only to that organization.

Text consent is optional and is not required to sign up for email updates, participate, or donate. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

Stop messages or get help

Reply STOP to stop texts from the messaging program that contacted you, or HELP for help. To request help or stop texts from either or both organizations, email [email protected]. We honor other reasonable requests to stop. After you opt out, we may send one final confirmation. No further messages from that program will be sent unless you opt in again.

Text-message information

Messaging records may include your mobile number, consent choices, and the date, time, and content of messages. We use this information to operate the messaging program, respond to you, prevent abuse, and honor your preferences.

When you explicitly opt into texts from both named organizations, Humans in Control and Humans in Control Action may use your mobile information and consent records to administer those requested communications. We do not treat consent given to only one organization as consent to the other. General affiliate sharing does not enroll you in text messages or expand your opt-in. We do not sell this information or share it with other organizations for their promotional or marketing purposes. Service providers and wireless carriers may process it as needed to operate and deliver the program.

Delivery and changes

Delivery may be delayed or unsuccessful because of carrier, network, device, or other conditions outside our control. We will post changes to these terms here. A policy update will not itself expand the organizations or kinds of texts you agreed to receive; we will obtain any additional consent required.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices change. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how we use personal information. Updating this policy does not retroactively expand your communication permissions or override earlier privacy commitments. Before a new use or sharing of previously collected information, we will provide any required notice and obtain any additional consent required.
